Hayden has rarely had nightmares. Well, I remember when he was almost 2, he woke up one time saying there was a dog in his bed. He seemed rather freaked out, and it took us a while to convince him there was no dog in his bed, but he did go back to sleep. That was the last "nightmare" he had.
I went to my parents house on Sunday and spent the night and came back home on Monday. After we had gotten the kids down for the night, my mom and I were outside talking for a couple hours on her porch. I heard crying/screaming and said, "Is that Theo?" My mom thought it was so I went inside to check on him. When I got in there, Hayden was in my bed (along with Theo) and he was just a screaming and crying mess. His face and pajama shirt were soaked with tears, as was the bed where he was laying. I turned on the light and asked him what was wrong. He wouldn't talk at all at first, but finally said there were spiders in his bed! And there were spiders in my bed and he was scared! I kept hugging him and getting him to calm down. I had him come to the bathroom with me and then brought him back to his bed. He wouldn't sleep in it though, convinced there were spiders in it. Finally I laid down with him and he was able to go back to sleep!
The next day we drove home, and Hayden was in his own bed at home. At about 2 AM in the morning, he starts crying, so Brandon gets up and goes in there. He says there is a ghost in his room! He says a ghost is coming after him and so I hear Brandon in there talking to him and telling him there's no ghost, ghosts don't exist. But he refused to go back to sleep with the lights off, so Brandon ended up leaving the light on (luckily Theo was already in our bed by this time haha).
He was fine last night - no nightmares. I'm wondering why he's all of a sudden scared of spiders and ghosts? Maybe it has something to do with Halloween coming up? But I have hardly even talked to him about it and I don't think he's seen anything to do with Halloween on TV or anything?
Very strange. I hope this is the end of his nightmares!
