Christmas 2011

So, Christmas.

Yeah it really didn't go too well. My parents and brother showed up on the 24th (Theo's birthday) and we did a mini-celebration where Theo and Hayden both got to open one present each. Then my dad, brother, husband and I played a game of Dungeon Quest (one of my many boardgames lol).

Christmas morning around 3:30 AM we woke to Theo crying out "Mommy!". Brandon went to get him and discovered he'd thrown up all over himself and the crib. He hopped in the shower with him and then they both got back into our bed. Shortly thereafter Theo thew up in our bed. Then we knew he was actually sick. So we had to change our sheets. It was at this point that I told Brandon that I was feeling really nauseous - but that I thought it was probably heartburn because when I used to get heartburn I would sometimes feel sick. Theo finally fell asleep and was able to sleep in until 10 AM - we purposely did not wake him up because we wanted him to get as much rest as he needed.

I, on the other hand, could not go back to sleep and could not get comfortable. Around 7 AM I finally got up and tried to go sleep on the couch - well my parents and brother were out there and I told them I was not feeling well at all. Then my parents went out to get us all coffee (I think around 8:30 AM) and while they were gone I threw up. It was really bad. Then I knew I was sick and it wasn't heartburn! I obviously felt much better. For the next hour I was doing ok, but didn't eat any of the cinnamon rolls my mom had made.

When Theo got up at 10 we all opened our stockings and presents. I got some pictures. I progressively felt worse and eventually went back to bed. All day I would sleep some, then get up some, and then throw up and feel better for a while. Thank goodness my Mom was here - because she made Christmas dinner without my help! I didn't eat anything except jello, though. It was sad missing out on both the cinnamon rolls and dinner :(

We went to bed about 9 PM and Brandon said he was feeling kind of sick. I was on the mend at this point (other than being weak and still a little sickish). Then I heard him get up at 12:30 AM to throw up. I think he got up 2-3 more times throughout the night to throw up some more. It was bad.

The next morning I was feeling much better but Brandon still wasn't doing too well. My parents helped make the kids new bunk beds and rearrange the room - it looks great now! We got them a hand-me-down dresser and toy organizer from their Uncle Morgan (Brandon's younger brother). Then we all (minus Brandon - he still wasn't feeling great) played my new board game that I had gotten from Brandon for Christmas - Arkham Horror.

We had hoped Hayden had gotten by with no sickness but no such luck. He and Brandon were sitting on the couch watching some kid shows and Hayden told Brandon he wasn't feeling good. About 20 minutes after that he threw up all over the couch. My dad rushed over and grabbed him off the couch and then he threw up again all over the floor. Yuck. So we set Hayden up in our bed watching cartoons and he kept throwing up every half an hour and we had to change the towels that we had put under him. He slept with us that night.

The next day I think were all (finally!) back to normal. It felt good to feel good again! Here's some pictures:
