So I had my doctor's appointment this afternoon - which Brandon came with me to. When I got there the nurse asked if there were any problems, if the baby was moving much, etc. I told her about my chronic worry that the baby didn't move much - she went and told the doctor and then had me go get an NST before seeing the doctor. Again, it appeared everything was fine. Heart rate stayed around 125ish and jumped up several times during movement. When we went to see the doctor she explained to me how it looked "great" and the baby is doing well. Made me feel a little better. I also told her about my massive anxiety that this baby won't be ok and I want her out. She said she has noticed that I haven't seemed like I've been doing very well for a long time (ha).
Then she checked me internally and said I'm 4 cm dilated and 70% effaced! She once again asked me if I have felt anything - again, no I haven't felt anything! Again she said most women are in a lot of pain at 4 cm and she's surprised I haven't felt anything. She said the membranes are still intact (which I pretty much knew) and then asked me what I wanted to do. I said I wanted to have the baby! She said, "Ok I will admit you to the hospital tonight!" That completely caught me off guard - I was not expecting her to say that! I asked her when she can deliver - she said she's not on call tonight, but she will deliver tomorrow and will be in around 7:30 AM. She said if I want I can try to wait until morning, come to her office around 8 AM, and she would check me and then admit me to the hospital. And then break my water. We had a short conversation about whether I am really in labor - she said that yes my body is basically in labor, I just can't tell and she has no problem with getting it going. She also thinks there's a strong possibility I will be coming to the hospital in the middle of the night and won't even make it to the morning. I'm worried now, because ever since the appointment I am having cramping and my lower back is KILLING me. So I'm wondering was it just because of the exam she did that I'm feeling so uncomfortable or am I really about to go into labor? I really really want to wait until the morning - because I want my doctor to deliver my baby so badly!
But, really I am just SO HAPPY to be having her! I can get rid of my worries about her not moving enough and my anxiety over her being okay can finally be relieved. I'm not too excited about the 2-3-4? hours of pain I'll be in tomorrow, but I am excited to have the baby. I really hope everything goes well and the baby does fine when she comes out. I need to pack my hospital bag and hopefully hopefully hopefully get a good nights sleep tonight! Oh yeah... and we still need to pick out a name. That was on our to-do list for this weekend, but I guess it will get bumped up to tomorrow lol. And... no date night tomorrow night like we had planned. Sigh. Oh well!
