My Life

I’m not really sure what to say on this thing – but I do know that I have wanted to start a blog for a looong time, mostly because I keep thinking that it would be so cool to know exactly when Hayden does/did various things. So I want to do this for him, but I figure since I’m going to be writing it and updating it (hopefully) 1-3 times a week, I want to make it about my life as well.

Just a quick background on me. I was born in Montana, moved to the hot Mojave Desert in California when I was 5 with my family, played trombone in band for several years, and went to college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I have a degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering, and that's what I do right now. I work for a consulting firm (the largest I believe in the world?? - don't quote me on that until I confirm it) called AECOM. Formerly we were Boyle Engineering (about 700 employees) but were just bought out this past year. I work full-time.

I met Brandon on August 28th, 2006 three months after starting my job. I then found out I was (very) accidentally pregnant the end of May 2007. We got married January 2nd, 2008, and Little Hayden Grey was born two weeks before his due date at 8:48 AM on Sunday, January 13th. He weighed 7 lbs, 3 oz and was 19 inches long. He is now 16 months old. He's a good kid. Oh, and we bought our first house in December of 2008! 3 exciting milestones in 1 year!

Brandon and I went on our 15 night honeymoon cruise (finally) to Hawaii March 7th to March 22nd and it was wonderful. We missed Hayden though, because he did not go with us. Also, I recently took the PE exam to get (or attempt to get haha) my engineering license at the end of April. I felt like I studied forever for that thing. Glad it's over... for now...

Another thing I wanted to mention, is that I don’t believe I even really knew what a blog was until I stumbled upon a particular one that I have read almost continuously since the summer of 2007. Mary and her husband have the most adorable little twins and she has done such a wonderful job updating her blog regularly. Thank you Mary, for being my inspiration for starting my own blog, and for sharing your loving family! I truly enjoy reading about your life and the twins!

And finally, I have more news. I'm kind of scared of telling, but I think I've decided it's good to share. I found out 3 weeks ago (the day after my horrible 16 hour test) that I'm pregnant again. I'm cautiously optimistic. I know that most likely, everything will be fine, but I'm still a little scared. I had my first doctor's appointment yesterday, and luckily she was nice enough to not do a pap smear. I begged her not to because of my horrible experience last time and truly believing I had lost the baby. She said she'll wait til the second trimester - blah - I wish she would wait til the third, but the second is better than the first so I'm glad for that. Anyway, technical due date is December 29th, but based on my personal calculations I think it's January 3rd. But then again, since Hayden came 2 weeks early, maybe this one will too...? December 20th! Yay! (Also, let's vote for a girl this time...)

Anyway, I think that's enough for now. I won't need to do any background for any of the rest of my posts, so they should definitely be shorter (hopefully) and mostly just full of pictures. Right now, I am out of town at the beach with Brandon and Hayden (he's taking a nap) and have very few pictures on this laptop. So I am just going to post this picture of Hayden last week drinking a strawberry smoothie at Grandma's House. I think he's so cute.

  4. Hello Jasmine! It's good to see you on the blogosphere!

Hayden looks adorable. And a bit like you, I think. It's exciting that you have another on the way.

I have a blog too (see above) but it's a bit daft and sparse of late- I spend most of my spare energy studying I guess?

Anyway I will be checking back here, okay? Okay.
